Every year, hundreds of older kids and teens in Bucks County are overlooked during the holidays. Toy drives provide the right gifts for kids under 12, but not much for older siblings.
Please help us change that by supporting our Holiday Gift Card Drive.
Gift cards give older kids and teens the chance to go out, enjoy themselves with their friends, and get something they really want. For a kid who is expecting nothing this year, your gift will mean everything.
Getting an older kid or teen a gift card to a clothing store or a fast food restaurant gives them the opportunity to go out and get something to eat with friends or to shop for themselves. That can be really empowering,” explains Danielle Bush, Director of Community and Volunteer Engagement at United Way.
As coordinator of the project, Bush has seen firsthand how much it means to teens and their families to be remembered during the holidays. Many times, it brings them to tears because they just don’t think anyone cares that much.
She suggests that donors consider gift cards to places that teens enjoy shopping: Target, Walmart, popular clothing stores, and specialty shops like Starbucks and Barnes & Noble.
We will accept gift cards of all denominations, starting at $5, now through December 17. All donations go to local teens and older kids who are experiencing a true need this holiday season.
There are three ways for members of the community to help with this project:
- Bring gift cards to our office: United Way of Bucks County, 413 Hood Blvd., Fairless Hills, PA, 19030;
- Mail in a check with “Gift Card Drive” on the memo line;
